Cycling

Visitors from more densely populated places are amazed at how quiet our roads are. Cycling is wonderful way to explore, and is a safe option here with so little traffic. You can even have a completely car-free holiday, bringing your own bikes by train to nearby Berwick-upon-Tweed, or hiring them there.

The Borders has a network of cycle-friendly roads and paths, and many are in East Berwickshire. There are short trips suitable for families, and longer routes to explore the area over a few days. The new Eyemouth Local Cycling Trails leaflet gives details of several signed routes.

For the serious cyclist, you could take the Borderloop, a 250-mile waymarked route around the Scottish Borders, or join the Tweed Cycleway, a 90-mile route from Berwick west to Biggar.
